Too Close
An art project by

A Digital Texidermy
The best way to observe the beauty of this life is to create a distance from them rather than trying to touch or possess them.
My project is envisioned as an interactive device, consisting of a display and sensors. As the title of my project suggests, I hope that the audience will understand that "distance creates beauty" through my work. My project will use Touch Designer to create a butterfly made up of particles or pixels, and when the viewer is at a certain distance from the sensors, these tiny pixelated particles will form a complete dynamic butterfly. If the viewer tries to get too close or reaches out and touches it, the pixel particles will spread out and disappear.

As a butterfly lover, I believe that the beauty of this creature lies not in being made into a taxidermy collection, but in the vibrant and dynamic beauty that is released during their short life cycle. The best way to observe the beauty of this life is to create a distance from them rather than trying to touch or possess them. At the same time I'm using the butterfly to insinuate that my ideal quest in relationships is to maintain a spiritual distance from people.
